Wild Aces by Marni MannI really loved this book and give it 4.5 well deserved stars. It brings us a story about love, loss, broken people, hidden pasts, misunderstandings, shady business, shocks, wonderful friends, lies, … and so much more

After 12 terrible years Trapper gets adopted by Vera. She’s like a mom to him and as of that age poker becomes his life. From a young age he learns to read people. He now is a professional poker player but he also is involved with secret activities at a compound?? Brea lost the love of her life 2 years ago. At a masquerade party she feels immediate attraction to Trapper but when she meets him again without masks she gets a big surprise. What that surprise is you’ll find out when reading this book! It’s worth it 😉

I loved both Trapper and Brea. They are both strong and wonderful. You really feel their chemistry and the few sex scenes are hot!! Maybe their feelings went a little bit fast for me but just a little…

“That feeling I get when I’m around you, it wraps around my lungs and presses against my heart and tingles in my chest. It happens every time I take a breath.”

There were some wonderful side characters too in this book and then there is that epilogue. If a book doesn’t have an epilogue it usually doesn’t feel finished to me. This book has a wonderful epilogue in it with everything you wished for! Perfect!

4 stars for “Black Widow by Lauren Runow”

Black Widow by Lauren RunowHot sex … a gorgeous dominating sex club owner … suspense … hot menage … chemistry … did I mention the hot sex 😉 This book has it all!!!

In the beginning I already loved this book but soon there is a twist I didn’t see coming and as of that moment we get lots of suspense! I loved it!

In this book we meet Kamii and Preston. Both have lost the love of their life. Kamii has lost her husband 5 years ago and hasn’t found another man yet to whom she wants to commit. Work has been it for her for the past years. Her erotic, kinky books have kept her company all this time. Preston has lost his wife almost a year ago. She couldn’t handle their kinky lifestyle anymore. Preston now has his own private sex club. He loves sex with other people but will never give his heart to anyone again. This works fine until his business partner and friend Becca introduces Kamii to their club. This is where I’ll stop telling the story since I really don’t want to spoil it…

As I said above something terrible happens at 49%. I really didn’t see that coming and was devastated. As of that moment it’s no longer a hot sexy read but one filled with suspense too.

I loved both main characters but I also their mutual friend Becca. I would love to have a friend like her.

This was my first read of Lauren Runow but I’ll definitely read more in the future! I give this book 4 stars…

3 stars for ‘Naked Men – 01 – Risking It All’ by Christi Barth

*** ARC kindly provided by the publisher Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. ***

Risking it all by Christi BarthThis was the first book I read by this author and I’m torn a little bit. It was definitely a like but I didn’t really love it. It dragged a little, I’m not a big fan of insta-love and I didn’t really like Griff. He IS a hero but doesn’t want to be called one but at other stages in the story he kind of brags about it?? I also didn’t like how he behaved towards Chloe and his mother. Liking the male character is more important to me than liking the female one and unfortunately I didn’t like Griffin 😦

What I did like are Chloe and her profession ‘a professional letter writer’. I also liked the website the 5 friends blogged on ‘Naked Men’. Even though I didn’t love this book I would love to read about the others of this tight group of friends…

3 stars for “A Bad for You Novel – 01 – Didn’t I Warn You? by Amber A. Bardan”

Didn’t I Warn You by Amber A bardanWhen reading the blurb for this book on NetGalley I requested it because it sounded like a great dark read but I’m a little disappointed. To me it isn’t dark at all! She doesn’t get to contact anyone and Haithem won’t return her home but besides that he’s almost always great to her. There are no dangerous situations or at least they don’t feel dangerous.

Overall I still enjoyed this story and give it 3 stars.

The book ends in an HFN and will be published April 18th. The next part is expected to be published 2 months later…

4 stars for “Acquisition – 02 – Magnate by Celia Aaron”

Magnate by Celia AaronNo no no no … that Cliffhanger, I didn’t see that coming … no!!! I’m so sorry sweet Stella but I’m on Sinclair’s side now! He just has to do this and you’ll just have to survive … damn!

I loved this book even more than the first one. Stella has chosen Lucius as her owner and wants to go to the trials with him. Will Lucius still want this when Sinclair tells him the truth about what will have to be done? What will the brutal Christmas trials do to Stella? How will this affect the 3 brothers? I’m not telling more about this story since I don’t want to spoil anything…

In the first book I had huge problems with Sinclair but this book changed my mind. I still don’t really like Lucius but then there is sweet, young Teddy… I really adore that boy and hope he’ll get the chance to continue his rather ‘carefree’ life …

As for Stella … wow her strength and compassion for others! I really admire her for this. I also love the attraction between her and Sinclair.

I’m really looking forward to the third book and am so glad it’s planned for April 2016 🙂

4 stars for “Acquisition – 01 – Counsellor by Celia Aaron”

*** Copy kindly provided by the publisher Patchwork Press – Cooperative, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ***

Counsellor by Celia AaronIt had been some time since I read a dark erotic book and I enjoyed this one. It wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be but still an enjoyable read. I give it 4 stars.

During the last 250 years the rich have been ruled by a Sovereign. This Sovereign is chosen every 10 years. Now tall and handsome district attorney Sinclair Vinemont, firstborn in his family, is 1 of the 3 candidates. He needs to present his chosen Acquisition on the brutal, humiliating, Acquisition trials. Stella Rousseau’s father faces prison time. To save her father from suffering in prison Sinclair makes a deal with her. Signing his contract will bind her to him for 1 year in which he owns her body and soul. Will Sinclair be able to keep it strict business? What will new revealed betrayal do to Stella?

It took me some time to connect with the characters but now I admire Stella’s strength. Even though this is something Sinclair HAD to do I can’t like him yet. I hope that changes after the next 2 books. In the beginning I had a problem with Stella’s behavior. Even though she’s a captive and should fear and hate him she’s still able to laugh and masturbates while thinking about him in her first night in his house ??

I really liked the youngest brother Teddy in this book but I hate Lucius but still I want to read the next book in this series where we’ll get lots more of Lucius…

3.5 stars for “Indigo Nights by Louise Bay”

*** ARC kindly provided by the author, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ***

Indigo Nights by Louise BayThis was an easy read with little suspense or drama. So if you’re looking for something more suspenseful you’ll have to skip this one until you’re in the mood.  For me it worked at the moment 😉  I give it 3.5 stars!

This is the story of Beth and Dylan.  Beth is an alcoholic.  She has been sober for 4 years and baking helped her through this hard period.  After posting some baking videos on YouTube, she now gets the chance to show her skills on television.  On the plane to Chicago she meets the handsome stranger Dylan.  When their flight gets cancelled they have 1 hot no-strings-attached night.  Will they manage to keep it to 1 night only or will fate interfere?  Dylan had a bad experience with a woman and doesn’t trust easily.  He doesn’t want to attach anymore but Beth is something else.   Do they have a chance?  Will it still work when secrets are revealed?

I loved both characters.  Beth is a strong, young woman.  Dylan seems arrogant but he is just honest, kind, confident, protective and possessive.  I liked the story and the writing style but I’m not a big fan of insta-love and that did go a little bit too fast for my liking.

In this book we get introduced to some likeable characters such as Beth’s brother Jake and his wife Haven.  But also to Haven’s brother Luke and his wife Ash.  Both couples have their own books.  For Jake and Haven’s story, read What the Lightning Sees.  For Luke and Ash’s story, read The Calling Me Series

Frosted Cowboy by Charlene RossThis is the story of a woman trying dating again after her fiancé cheated on her and her boss fired her. She doesn’t make the best choices in men but does succeed in finding the right one at the end. Some of the candidates are dull, some are cheaters, others don’t want to commit …

I personally didn’t like Laney. She annoys me, she doesn’t trust easily and thinks to soon that someone has other motives. The story is also rather predictable and the ending to abrupt. The humor also didn’t work for me … BUT this is my personal opinion, don’t let this stop you from reading this book.

Dirty Ride by Chantal FernandoValentina finally manages to escape her abusive husband. When she reaches a place she wants to try for a new start, she meets hot, alpha, bad-boy Ardan (aka Irish). She isn’t ready for a new man yet but will she be able to resist his charms? Will the past catch up? I won’t tell more because this is a really short book. A little to short to really connect with the characters. It was definitely a fun read. MC books is one of my favorite genres and I really loved Ardan. I’m not too fond of insta-love so the love declarations went a little too fast for me…

I definitely want to read the previous books in this series!
